NTA Launches Free Leap Card for Children Aged 5–8

On 3rd September 2025, the National Transport Authority (NTA) officially launched the Child 5–8 Leap Card, a new initiative offering free public transport to children aged 5 to 8 across Ireland - including all TFI Local Link Galway services.
What Does the Card Cover?
Children can travel free on:
TFI Local Link Galway routes
Dublin Bus & Go-Ahead Ireland
Bus Éireann (excluding Expressway & School Transport)
LUAS
Irish Rail
Kilkenny & Portlaoise Town Buses
Routes 139, 975, 143, and 144
Validity:
The card is valid until the end of the month in which the child turns 9.
How to Apply:
Parents and guardians can apply online at www.leapcard.ie and have the card delivered directly to their home.

Bus (including TFI Local Link): Just tap on
Why It Matters:
