  • Supporting Passengers with Hidden Disabilities: "Please Offer Me a Seat" Badge

Navigating public transport can be challenging for passengers with hidden disabilities. Often, these individuals face difficulties that are not immediately visible to others, making it hard to ask for the support they need. To address this, Transport for Ireland (TFI) has introduced the "Please Offer Me a Seat" Badge and Card, designed to help passengers with hidden disabilities secure a seat without having to explain their condition. For passengers with hidden disabilities, our badge does the talking. This initiative ensures that those with conditions such as fibromyalgia, autism, chronic pain, and other invisible impairments can travel more comfortably and confidently. The badge and card can be used across various public transport services, including Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, Iarnród Éireann—Irish Rail, Luas, Go-Ahead Ireland, and TFI Local Link services. How to Order Your Badge If you or someone you know could benefit from the "Please Offer Me a Seat" Badge, TFI Local Link Galway is here to help. To order, simply contact us at: Phone: 091 842384 Email: Send your name and address to galway@locallink.ie Why This Matters Invisible disabilities affect a significant portion of the population, yet they often go unrecognized and unsupported. By offering this badge, TFI aims to raise awareness and promote understanding of these conditions. It’s a small but impactful step towards making public transport more inclusive for everyone. Personal Stories The impact of the "Please Offer Me a Seat" Badge is best understood through the experiences of those who use it. For instance, Annie, who lives with fibromyalgia, shares how the badge has made her daily commute less painful and more manageable. Similarly, Emily, who has multiple chronic conditions, finds that the badge helps her navigate public transport with greater ease and dignity. Read more: Here Join Us in Making a Difference We encourage all passengers to be mindful and considerate of those with hidden disabilities. Offering your seat to someone wearing the badge can make a significant difference in their day. Together, we can create a more supportive and inclusive community. Let's work together to ensure that everyone can travel with confidence and comfort.
